HOPE DIES LAST

(keep your eyes peeled for TWO Magnolia Electric Co. sets today -Jason)
I guess it’s sadly fitting that Jason Molina would turn into a ghost before he reached the horizon.
The singer/songwriter died in March of organ failure stemming from a long fight with alcoholism. This is not a rehashing of his whole career. I can only I can only tell part of the story, snapshots from my own perspective, with Molina’s songs playing in the background.
I didn't choose to go down this road
No one chooses to be sick
I'm saying everything is fine by the look in my eye
But you know darling half of what a man says is a lie
A lot of people have never heard of Jason Molina, but he was “critically acclaimed” because he made some really great records. And he wasn't just “indie” in quotes as a musical genre; he was truly independent as an artist and musician, releasing close to 20 albums on the Secretly Canadian record label.
